Kerry R. Hubble (Rick) spent his first 5 years in logging camps in Northwest Montana. His father (Bert) logged near Stryker, Montana.
	Rick killed his first bear at 4 years old while it was trying to get in the back door for something to eat.
Rick went onto Salt Lake City where he worked in steel fabrication which helped him to realize that he enjoyed working with wood more than steel. In 1976, he started Wilderness Building Systems in Salt Lake City for the construction of log homes. With help from his brothers and sisters, Wilderness Building Systems grew to be Utah's largest supplier of logs and builder of log homes. Today, Wilderness Building Systems ships thousands of logs across the world.
	With the company's tremendous success, most of Rick's brothers and sisters have moved back to the Whitefish, Montana area. Wilderness Building Systems continues to grow with the majority of business operation such as sales, design, drafting, shipping and supply remaining in Salt Lake City "the cross roads of the West."
Rick was once noted as saying "Gee, the only thing that Montana has to offer is logs and that's only 5% of the cost to build a log home. Every time we sell a kit, we make a lumber yard richer. If we are going to sell lots of homes, then it will have to be because of how we buy the logs and not what we sell them for! The customer wants fun, strong, fast, easy, dry and cheap logs. Let's supply them with what they want and include a friendly, professional, knowledgeable and honest service. If we can do this, we will keep plenty busy doing what we like to do. It's a fun and rewarding occupation and we're grateful for the opportunity to serve our clients." Rick is a licensed general contractor and has a staff of custom designers, architectural and structural engineers, and competent construction crews.
